The once peaceful world, divided into four kingdoms, each representing a different season and governed by powerful deities known as the Quadeities, has been threatened by strange and mysterious occurrences. In an attempt to understand their destinies within this complicated fate, a group of adventurers embarks on a journey through each kingdom in search of answers.

Players have the opportunity to assign up to three different roles to each character, allowing for a wide range of skills, abilities, and even outfits. In turn-based combat, players can charge special orbs to use the Act Over ability, granting four consecutive actions. The game’s charming pixel graphics add to the enjoyment of this fantasy JRPG.

STORY

Chroma Quaternion revolves around the concept of fate, whether one accepts it or fights against it. The inhabitants of this world are bound to their roles, assigned by the four Quadeities, one for each kingdom. These roles are chosen through maidens, and while they may be absolute, it is up to each individual to make the most out of their given role. Some may even take on multiple roles, but the Quadeities’ blessing is necessary for such endeavors.

Ark and Foure, two adventurers, encounter strange weather in their hometown of Furyu and join forces with a princess and her maid, Evaile, to investigate. As they delve deeper, they discover a possible connection between the unnatural phenomena and their kingdom’s deity, leading them on a journey to unravel the truth.

The story is filled with unexpected twists and turns, providing insight into the events leading up to the game. What sets Chroma Quaternion apart is its ability to keep players guessing about the true culprit behind the chaos. And even when the truth is revealed, new revelations and plot twists keep things exciting. Unlike many RPGs, this game avoids love triangles and instead focuses on each character’s individual struggles and how they cope with their circumstances. Even the enemies have their own backstories, adding depth to the overall narrative.

GAMEPLAY

Chroma Quaternion is a turn-based JRPG that follows the journey of Ark, Foura, Eara, and Evaile as they travel to the four corners of the world to uncover the truth behind recent events and discover more about themselves. Progression is driven by roles, similar to jobs or classes in other RPGs. Each character starts with one role in one slot, but as they progress, they can unlock and switch between multiple roles, up to three at a time.

Roles level up alongside characters, but instead of experience points, they require Role Points (RPs). As a role levels up, new abilities and passive skills are unlocked, and the character’s primary stat also increases. However, after level 40, the stat boosts become minimal, and the focus shifts to grinding for new skills and passives. While this keeps combat fresh and exciting, it may require a significant amount of grinding to progress further in the game.
